MY WHITE LINEN

So quickly it entered through me
Like a virus my body to eat up.
So slowly waited I
Not knowing if I would again raise my head up.
My system I watched roll away
Like a free flowing stream
Listening to sounds of its jaws
As it went up and down
Shredding the flesh off my bony soil.

One after the other, it will go
Licking clean my bonny parts
Those savor to consume in ecstasy
Until there is nothing anymore to take away
But a shameful soiled white linen.
With calmness without resistance
Those actions and commands
Which went on rather prolonged.

HIM AND YOU

If death will have you
You who loved and loved him
Not baldly but well; to him
Like praise full of incense from you.

HOT AIR FROM THE MOUTH

They will talk about you
It will not be seen on you
But will follow you
If you let it pass by you
Rather than passing through you.

FIRM FAIRNESS

I will tell you of firm fairness
And then not anymore
To tighten your loosen belts
So its hold never drop
A sound stronger than the bell to hear
Dizzy and giddy to leave you.

MY ROLE MY WAY

I play a role my way
A role not my role
Because he met her first.
Of one I don’t know
Nor would want to know.
All I only do, I feel
Could do better than he
Playing this role my way
Though he met her first.

Gone, no more will return

There was nothing up my skies
So clear after the clear showers
Upwards the passing voice to come
To break a tiding of no return

Not good, so brief it was
Not pleasant, what the ripper took
Not expecting, green not yet brown
Not avoidable, took it again like before

So violently without any hearing
So quick to even say good bye
His body already long displaced
The sudden wreckage that fell
His return never possible, he is gone.

could i ever live?

Could I ever live
After leaving ajar
The doors of this day?
Could I not have closed
If not shut completely?
Having been so gracious, the sun,
Let it not be said of me
That my eyes did hear
And ears did see
This passing moments
Once every 345 days
Now as it passes me by
Should I not seize it?

AN EAVESDROP BEHIND THE WINDOW

Soon the clock will tick
And it will be another day
Without a sound of her or sleep;

Like a rescuer on a sinking ship
My life, to gladly lose
Their lives, to mournfully save.

Slowly we sail the seas
Each step a solid step
The top, to build and reach.

Experience that takes away time
Might pay not but will stay
Over your raging storm to smile.

Send a perforated hand of a brother
And would not return whatever has lain
If not disgrace and an end to all relations.

TRUSTING MY PALM

Trust those ten fingers
Into my close arm grip
Close your tired eyes
And your feet
Will not stumble

THOSE TWO HANDS

I have stayed awake in restlessness
To picture those two hands which held each other firmly
And what has become of their vine
Have I to drink this wine of boredom
When you ever wore that far away apparel, your guard
Before I first met you
Now wanting to possess you

WHEN LOVE SONG WAS SWEETEST

If we‘ve had misunderstanding my loving friend
If it has rang at odd times my dear love
It has been the sleepless night of a sorrowful heart
Who forcefully had to bade farewell
To a loving friend, his dear one
When their love song was sweetest

STILL MISSING YOU

Even before your bus sped off
Even before you let go into it
I felt this lonely feeling
Thinking would not last
Here am I alone
There you are afar
Still missing you

UNCONTROLLABLE HEAVING

Would she have allowed me to go?
Soon as she heaved uncontrollably
These thick fumes darker than the exhaust
Clouded those entrance of her eyes and mind
A long talk many of repetitions
A point passed, the mistake made
Took a swap my waving cloud
Almost turned a home for flooding

A demand for a hug, went out calmly
Her response, for a shake abruptly
Then reached out aloud her truth
Something greater than a shake, out came
Held in my hands before they stopped

… This hug

LILINA

What’er winds blew my way
Indeed ago should have blown
Very early haven missed
All these goodies I now have
And may it not take her
Away, again I plea

Noble born commoner
Yet to possess I now
Commoner born great, like
The name I ever bear
That will make all bow down
Should she ever blink in glee

Thou beautiful petal
Blessed in magnificence
By their nurturing rain.
The closed eyes view thee
Like a fly in free flight
A halt to sap nectar

Ye brighter than lotus
Purer than rain water;
Oh thou gentle tendrils
the winds will blow your leaves
Passing, the hanging dark
If only you remain

Feel free maiden flower
Fairer than the clear day
After several days rain
Let not these clouds around
Blare your sight for I stand
Glaringly to be kept

Drink with me thou holy
From thy sap this thy wine
To poison my reason
Intoxicate to kill
No more to have any
No one but thou only

From mom to you

There lies there
Breathing of weariness
All the heaviness she has earned
The rising sun
The shining moon
Your heaviness her weariness
To nurture emptiness for fullness
In sight might be nothing as she lay
In depth to be cherished as we live
An award unknowingly behind her back
About to be conferred if she be lucky
Before her heart beats the last

And if she left before her laurel
I will tell you how she desired you
Not for herself but yourself
And if I should recount her smile
Just like yours when I first saw it
Those beautiful set of teeth
Opening to crown my presence
Her only worry that you be better
That you climb the ladder quicker
Higher where the eagles could not lay their eggs

My queen she said,
some day I would leave you
then young you were
not yet developed your enchanting look
my queen you replied
some day I would leave you
only to mimic,
not understanding her saddening look
her warm drops sipping through her pale face
tender arms though strong, you to carry.
I would leave you, some day
Baptizing you with her opened pipe

Mine still lay there breathing of loneliness
Earning weariness out of our heaviness
And if you’ll care to know
I would share with you all I have of her
As she still lay breathing of weariness
Hold my hands you’ll not fall
Slow your breath, its alright
One step at a time, we’ll get there
Picture in your minds, enough energy in your veins
Close your eyes
you’ll open, and we’re there

BROKEN MIRROR

They all passed it by not looking on
Their feet in a hurry to shake it on
The dust underneath it, off it, covers it
Broken pieces still shining reflected to refine
The psyche of this dying soul its seed to sow

Not seeing what lay there but their hurry
To do something nothing can be done
There, where they passed, lie there
Not what ought not to be done
Broken fragments lie there deserted

What those precious veins fell for
The brave protected with their fainting breath
What wobbling feet went in search for four years
Losing friends and family, lies there
In fragments and in pieces, there deserted

On that lonely road in tattered silky skirt
A far away damsel stoop to pick
Not to patch but shine a piece
Just her cloth, an edge of a cloak
With all its dirt, brightly it beamed

Once it stood the master’s bed side
That perfect piece of pearl wiped and shined
A constant reminder of the Astra
Hanged away from the visiting eye
Their mind’s mind jealously to track

Fragments and pieces will no more neatly show
An innermost soul the dark will grope
Fragments and pieces now in a patch
How we left it loose, the pain
And its scars painfully will remain

What was whole, a guarded gift of old
Broken mirrors, in fragments and pieces
Hanged patched, scars dazzling
Reflect again the mind’s mind to revive
The dust that ever settled on it in bits

CUBA: LA MARAVILLA

Who will tell of your wonder?
And the twisting and turning
Of your body and feet
As the hands roll it all
On the cleanest shores
With only sugarcane
From the overgrown fields

Who will tell of your wonder?
Of self satisfaction of contentment
That all must be respected
Not because of black or white
But traditions which are valued
And tied with culture to preserve
To remain green as ever, oh wonderful.

Who will tell of your wonder
O land of beautiful people
The sun will not stop setting
on your clean beaches
and keeping the sleeping night awake
in joy on the streets
oh wonderful like Patio Alberto Cecilia Julia

Beautiful Havana wonderful Havana
Which will make you wonder and marvel
O wonderful people our friends
Having love in their hearts
And true smile on their bright faces
unlike those who took away
their canes from their fields,
let not the sun stop shinning
on their beaches o Havana

Beautiful Havana wonderful Havana
Where our minds were shaped
Fidel’s Havana Marti’s Havana
In envy they sought to destroy
The twisting and turning
Of your body and feet
Which the hand rolls all along
In wonder to watch from afar

Beautiful Havana wonderful Havana
Wonderful people with love in their hearts
True smiles which faded not
In winter like in summer
Of her twisting and turning
I have watched from afar
In wonder, I would learn to be like her

La maravilla

QuiĂ©n dirĂ¡ que tu maravilla
Baila el twist con giro rĂ¡pido
Que tu cuerpo y pies
Como
las manos
lo mueven
todo

Sobre las orillas limpias
donde sĂ³lo
las cañas
cubren
los campos
abandonados

Quien dirĂ¡ que tu maravilla,
tu satisfaccion
y alegria
donde
Ä‚frica se repite.
No por
el color
negro
o
blanco
Sino en tradiciones
que vuelan y se atan en cultura
Para preservarse
En vida original y verde

QuiĂ©n dirĂ¡ que tu maravilla
Ah, tierra
Maravillosa,
llena
de gente maravillosa
el sol no dejarĂ¡
de amanecer por tu playa limpia
La noche no dormirĂ¡
en la calle porque bailarĂ¡
en alegrĂa
ah aquĂ¡ gente maravillosa
como Pacio Alberto
ah aqua gente maravillosa
como Cecilia Julia

LlĂ¡mame linda, soy de Havana
Havana que continuarĂ¡ a maravillĂ¡ndote
La maravilla es nuestra amiga
porque tiene amor
en su corazĂ³n
Y sonrisa

chasing after justice

Opposing torrents roaring to and away them
When their listeners hear another tune
Justice and justice nearer they beckon
Mounting the hill tops and plains
Asking the noisy blowing winds
And touching the running rivers
For answers and a stand still

Justice and justice all around us
Yet find we not when we call
Hiding their heads in the hole
Leaving their body all to space
For the little fingers all to see

We search for justice far away
When righteousness so near us to take
Take we not but in the dark shadows
To grope, strangers to lead astray

Justice and justice when time past
That hurt and pain that I once bear
Not smelling the aroma of righteousness
When close to it I had lain
Will leave me here, when all is done and gone

Justice and justice demanded his rights
With eyes that are covered
With the revenge of yesterday
Yourself you’ll become unjust
To even plea for her unfailing mercy

Justice and justice our undeniable rights
Mercy and mercy still the best

If we can temper with justice
Righteousness we’ll not call
But like our shadows will lie with us
All what we have achieved for years
The toiled respect and earned reputation
That we’ll be in the heavenly field
An illusion and its place a shooting star
Still roaming the firm firmament because of justice

When the free entry with mercy awaiting us
Will be gone.
Gone into perpetual glory without us

a morning rush

In the rush hours of the morning
My strife started
In search a sweet fluid
Solidified in a dear cane
Carried on the head that morning.
In wretched cloths that Sunday
To be chewed in harmony
By those on the way

The secret

Secretly they loved each other
Then he thought she didn’t
Now she knows she hid it
May be her pride
Or her scare of another ride
Before long the winds gave her ride
And they parted like strangers
Not a word or a hand shake
Nor a hug let alone a kiss
But suppressed emotions from one
As if never cared, the other
If she will know it was the truth
And he continue in his truth
Their secret
Clear like the falling rain
Will be.

what we can change

When there is a lot we can change
Little do we succeed in doing
When there are some we cannot change
An entire life, we fail even when devoted

Many …

In this strife have I found many
Many place guided by my feet
Many people have I met
Many things have I learnt
Many have I loved
Many have I hurt
Many have I forgotten
Many still have I remembered
Many tears have I shed
Many times my laughter seizes
Many more yet to come my way
Many times till my last breath.

by my side

Walk by my side
Chest up in the dark
Through my mind
You’ll stagger
Even with light

facing you alone

I love it when alone
To face you alone
Your stern look and glances
Your dazing silence in wait
To cheer or hoot in loudness

Car chase

Their passing steps towards the car
And the unthinkable will happen
A crowd in haste
A seat in a chase
Like an army of bees
Through a hole in a comb
Their passing steps, the most noise
Tum-pum pum-tum
Ceasing when vacancy restored

Not on a play field
Those gallant feet
Nor boots to hide their heel
But to run on the streets
All: family, single, children
And the elderly tum tsi-tsi pum
Their feet towards the car, running

In the pub

Take a walk with me
Pleaded I
through the dark
within the room at night
flooded with hoisted flags
their various choices of clubs
As we walk through the pool calmly gathered
and yet our clothes not wet
our minds will work
will do all the walk.
Amidst the silent minds
the lone voice will rhyme
showing the way
clearing the doubting rage
the turbulent fall to sublime.

hija amada, Isabel e hijo noble, Fernando.

Con
las alas de un Ă¡guila renaciste desde
las
cenizas como el fénix
tu
descubrimiento del mundo nuevo
ganĂ³
oros a tus costa que
te
hizo tan rica y un mundo poderoso

o España
te he oĂdo de tu famoso franco.
Ghana
te ha oĂdo, de Julia
Que
llegĂ³ a su tierra
La verde y la tierra de oro;
Que
promoviĂ³ la semana Cervantes,
que
es semana de hispanidad ahora: una celebraciĂ³n
que
une nuestros dos paĂses;
que construyĂ³ Lope de vega: lo que promueve la
cultura
de tu
paĂs y nuestro paĂs
que
nos dio caracol: el medio para expresar nuestros
opiniones
y compartir nuestros identidad rica

Ah España
¿cuando se serĂ¡ contigo?
Ah
tierra en el cielo a través de la mar
Y mĂ¡s
allĂ¡ de la desierta,
AquĂ
tan lejos como mis ojos pueden
Ver
es donde quiero estar
Ah España,
se te ha oĂdo
¿Cuando
se serĂ¡ contigo

… soy para formar

Un
alma soy,
vacio
y inmĂ³vil hasta que reciba
a mi
novia de donde ha sido dejado de dormirse
por
edades una forma espiritosa
que
se une conmigo
Un
alma vivo
para
formar

Una
articulaciĂ³n soy,
bando
y sin moverse hasta que recebo
en
mi casa un invitado distinguido
que
se quedara conmigo
MĂ³vil
y duro, Un hueso
de
mi esqueleto
para
formar

Un
pensado soy,
y conducido por la voluntad vehĂculo
que corre rĂ¡pidamente que el ciervo
que
persigue Los intentos
del
corazĂ³n como carne que toma
una
atuendo para Alcanzar
una
forma concreta

Una
mujer soy,
este
mundo llegué
para
buscarle de que he extrañado
tantos
años antes de que nací,
la
carrera a su casa
EstĂ¡
dentro de mĂ para llegar
a
dormir su mundo formado.

kokrokooo

kokrokoo
Kokrokoo
kokrokoo
Los
hombres en una caza
Un
gallo en una fuga
Por profanar
la tarde
El
duerme de los ancianos
La
paz del pueblo.
Su garganta
se acuchilla
Por
una comida para aplacar
Los
ancianos cuando se levanten
Su paz
para restablecer

Kokrokoo
kokrokoo
kokrokoo
Tres
partes la noche se divide
El
silencio se rompe
Los
antepasados empiezan
Sus
viajes a sus moradas.
Los
hombres de la tribu
De sus
chozas y refugios se levantan
A su
creador sus alabanzas
Por
su sol
Por
iluminar la noche oscuro

las manos del reloj

Vuelva
las manos del reloj
Y
nuestro ojo llorarĂ¡
Sacudiendo
sus aguas que
Nunca
estarĂ¡ de pies
Pero
correrĂ¡ rĂ¡pidamente
Por
su camino de agua

Uno se
encontrarĂ¡ cuentas
De
reflexiones de oportunidades que
Nunca y nunca revolverĂ¡n
Por
un dĂa, mes o mĂ¡s

Se quedarĂ¡ aquĂ
Pueden
cambiar y revolverla
La
situaciĂ³n
Se quedarĂ¡ allĂ
En
nuestra memoria
Se quedarĂ¡ asĂ

Siempre se quedara
Se
quedarĂ¡ como temor
Como
pena y pesar y dolor
Y sĂ³lo
el tiempo la cubrirĂ¡
Aun

y no significa reflexiĂ³n alguna
En nuestras vidas: nuestra tierra de cultivos
que ha sido transformada en surcos,
unos se atrapan y se divierten
mĂ¡s que lamentarse de su muerte

Cuantas veces solo
excavarĂ¡n minerales
mientras las “pilas” se dan
a cambio de dinero
que ya han recibido;
por papeles
que ya han afirmado

Les hemos permitido,
a los malos lĂderes,
guardar y proyectar
nuestros recursos,
a causa de una promesa:
la mejor condiciĂ³n de vida.
TodavĂa no ha cambiado,
Sino la peor condiciĂ³n de vida

Les hemos vendido
nuestro derecho de nacimiento
Les hemos vendido
El suyo también
Y el de nuestros niños
Y el de sus niños
Antes de que nazcan

Dime si no es avaricia
y autosuficiencia
de una persona que desperdicia
lo que pertenece a todos
El comienzo de demasiada pobreza,
el inicio de demasiados apuros

Nuestra playa de oro se ha convertido
en una playa de arena
Y nuestra alegrĂa se ha vuelto
LĂ¡grimas
porque
Lo que una vez se acoge
en la tierra, no se purifica
después de excavar

Los dueños viven en la miseria
mientras los servidores muy confortables.
La cosecha, después
de cultivar la tierra,
después de la lluvia,
es una cosecha muy precaria
con muchĂsimos acres de sitio.

Entonces

obligĂ¡ndonos a maltratar
a nuestros ciudadanos

aunque haya abundancia

Es la tierra llena de la felicidad
donde vive lo visible
con lo invisible
donde a la gente se le muestra
con otros ojos
lo que desea y busca de verdad
con los suyos propios.

En la tierra llena de felicidad
Juntos
cada momento compartido
vivĂan
pero sĂ³lo por un rato
antes de separarse
hacia otras tierras
para que los bendigan
Y los hagan suyos

Regresan a la tierra de felicidad
para establecer su fuerza
para recibir su vista otra vez
para que les recuerden su promesa:
La promesa del invisible
de lo invisible de ese gran dĂa

AquĂ
los amantes y amigos
se quedarĂ¡n con sus enemigos
y no sufrirĂ¡n sus almas
contra sus planes:
Los elementos y las estrellas sino

AllĂ ,
bajo el azul y la lana
su voz quieta se quedarĂ¡
para hacernos una especie tan especial,
segĂºn su voluntad,
para que uno se vuelva
como Ă©l

El Viajero

Sobre la cubierta superior no puedo ver
A las personas que me despiden, lloro;
Mis rayos voy a buscar
Hasta que duerma en mi sol

En la sala

Baile conmigo, le supliqué
En la oscuridad del bar
entre multitud de banderas izadas
de varios clubes seleccionados.

Anduve por un charco tranquilo y todavĂa
QuedĂ³ seca mi camisa
pero nuestra mente trabajarĂ¡
Y recorrerĂ¡ todo
Dentro de la mente silenciosa

La Ăºnica voz rimarĂa
Y el camino se mostrarĂa
Y la furia de dudas se limpiarĂa
Para sumergirse en la furia de olas

-EXTENSION TO ALICIA’S POEM

En un abrir y cerrar de ojos
En un mundo de pensamientos
De pesar y pena y dolor
De fracasos, de oportunidades abiertas
Reposo’ su cuerpo sobre la orilla
Miro’ al sol amaneciendo
Lentamente lentamente

Lentamente lentamente

En un abrir y cerrar de ojos
¡Hola señorita! ¿Me recuerda?
ContestĂ³ ella negando con su cabeza
Sin mostrar su sorpresa y su reconocimiento
¡No!

Nuestro regalo

Tu presencia cerca de mĂ
Por largo tiempo
ha sido un regalo,
Precioso y valioso, un regalo
que no comerciaré con nadie:
No por SalomĂ³n y su continencia
Irresistible y encantada,
a quien nadie reemplazarĂ¡.
No por el lirio rico en plena floraciĂ³n
en la noche de luna.

Una gloria que no comparto
con nadie, excepto tĂº.
Te dejo este regalo;
es la fragancia riquĂsima
que llega de los colgantes
Jardines de Babilonia, formidables y altos
hasta la PirĂ¡mide de Giza,
hasta el Faro de AlejandrĂa;
siempre su barco cuidado ha llegado
hasta la orilla sobre las olas bravĂas

Un regalo que no se puede cuantificar
y me llena
todos los dĂas,
con tonos de colores vistosos
como arcoĂris del mediodĂa;
un regalo lleno de comprensiĂ³n,
un regalo que hoy ha cumplido
nuestra promesa de ayer;
un regalo que harĂ¡ para siempre
nuestra sĂ³lida uniĂ³n.

the tired hen

Tired and tired my scream for help
My countless chicks the hawk seized
Always and ever his tossing and turning
His victorious glide will they proclaim

Comfort me not oh oval boiled eggs
Heavy and more you weigh me down
On you I will lie after I lay you fresh
Sweating and sweating to call you my chick

Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and ever I’ll refuse to be comforted

Soon to lose you to a generational foe
Before the tree top to learn a generational croak
Soon to lose you to his victorious glide
On the wings of the storm his perpetual flight

Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and ever I’ll refuse to be comforted

Why wait and wait before the grab
Why not early before the hatch
Before I light the furnace to call my chicks
To have them fresh and green after the dew

Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and ever I’ll refuse to be comforted

Tired and tired my run for help
My countless chicks the hawk seized
Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and never she’ll refuse to be comforted

THE EMPEROR'S PARCEL TO SYLVIE

THE EMPEROR’S parcel

To the newly wedded bride
To my dear friend
Our loved one his queen.

For my invisible present to present
Rapped in red rose
Painted to ponder and to consider:

Another stride on your life’s journey you’ve attained
Where no master is or servant
But partners in a pact;
Helpmates on a road whose length
Perceived by none lest each treading his own.

Your steps the countless years of fancy to end
And true reality magnificently to attain
Out of this world of feign affection
Where the butterflies might not kiss the coloured petals
Yet must blossom their fruits.

And after all their well wishes
All the happiness
Below and above the heavens

Would I still wish you
If even they never find your way;
Search them if even all your days

And you will find it someday.

Poetry

From within it comes
From that invisible portion of man
And it’s brought out
To be heard by the crowd

Relaxing, making happy, seeking
To cheer whoever has the hearing,
Like the soul of anything that seeks
To comfort the other soul.

My poem a song and prayer
That nature sings to itself
And rings its bells to its maker,
Has ever been and will be made louder.

Nature met it
Already here, they met it
They will leave but it will stay
Stay with the maker even in his presence.

This immortal entity
Is produced by the mind
Written by the hands
And read in sound by the mouth

Poetry, my poetry, is life without which
We march to the grave in mournful
Songs; in lines so short but meaningful,
All that has been, and yet will be.

To those who will only hear and criticize
Not even to cheer,
I leave you to ponder endlessly
Over it, in noisy struggle, as I rest peacefully.

The sudden rain

Some few steps into the compound
‘Umbrella’ mommy’s voice came out
Stopping legs to make meaning of that shout
Sparkling bright light through the dark brain tunnel
The eyes rose up
To open its shielding lids

Brightness overpowered by dimness
In array for battle, the sky
In wait a signal from the dark clouds
Seated on the mountain shaped horses
With their piercing cold arrows on the skin
Taken away all on its path
The rain on the poor earth
Lying calm at its feet

Legs in a mounting confusion
Will have mouth coming to its rescue
When uttered the sound of retreat
‘Ok’ so suddenly the whole body
Begging the little thing
To cover its head, the little thing

Sleep

Tomorrow they will come
Just like yesterday and today
Our sour mouths be sweetened
When our ears picked out
From the palm trees
Their secretes attentively

It will blow through the night
While it yet stays
At the same time
At the same place
The flow of its turbulent currents
Moving to and fro

The night awake to keep
The void in the air to share
When in their huts they lie
Yet already gone
Into another world
Unknowingly, already gone

like…

like a falling fleece
from within to nourish
your soul to clean
the table of anger to free

like tear drops
on the growing land
into my abode
the bright mountains above
the arid heart to water

like gay sparrow rhymes
on the tree top high
will wipe away all
my sorrowful heart tall

baby I came baby I go

baby I came
with uncontrollable
hands that gripped not
eyes that wondered about
even at the slightest movement
with weakened strength
a dull mind, a baby I will go

baby I came
learning from the scratch
a master to become
of my world, the other world to join
like a baby I came
with uncontrollable cry…
like a baby I will go

my star of inheritance

I raised my eyes high
Into the skies for a star
The god s left on my path
Bright they said its light
Reflecting through my eyes

I gave thanks
what my heart longed
so differently stored
like starch in a leaf
what the gods stored

in my hands to have this star
but another also shining
in its place brighter to contemplate
in its place to replace

along the waters of fate
my aging boat will ride
till my star of inheritance
gradual or in a haste
dark or bright I’ll find

Wherever the oars me take
To comfort, cheer, guide; a star
I need, even if not that star,
To pass through to that star
The gods me left

Matter most to treat all same
Not the second more
nor the first least
in order to be happy
and staying happy

… Mi Amor, she said

My cheeks are full and heavy
Of her pack of kisses
Which now weighs heavy
Calling my attention
To what my heart should have formed:
The pact which has been ignored

It met me to cherish
To wipe out my tears
Which none should see;
To hold me in my pieces
in chains that I not tear
during abandoned times; like a company
their help, to aid and support.

My cheeks full and heavy be
but time and moments long passed
to realize and return.
So simple might it seem a return
in reality a difficulty to return
in grips with reality
like treated water entering the drains

in silence

oh in silence the head weeps
as heavy loads hang
on its top and on the knee
decorated caps hang

oh in silence the head weeps
as it wears away the hot floor
and dusty breeze from the shore
stayed for ages without a sweep

oh in silence
the head weeps
at its counterparts
unlike him enclosed to freeze
in offices and cars

oh in silence
the head weeps
in silence a battle to fight
in silence to lose or win
to exit or remain in silence

A straw to save

Quick flashes the eyes to see
Through the darkness
The struggling man
Who held on to the straw
in order not to drawn

his alert mind
the falling rain to cover
like an umbrella;
yet wetting his cloak
in preventing the falling rain

Angel wings

Angel wings
Take over my heel
Lest I go the way of all the earth
Lest a victim I‘ll be when it comes

Angel wings
Ride me high
Above the cloudy sky
Above the falling tear drop my fear will fly

Angel wings
The raging winds blow
The falling hail your wings will hide
But not my view from the glorious rays

Angel wings
The time is come
To my aid now
… angel wings!

Sleepy eyes

Oh stay awake sleepy eyes
And never give in to their threats
Of fanciful dreams and tiredness
Withhold not your supporting arms
When all others shy away
For fear of the roaring dusty winds
Which scatters the fragile tendrils
Stay awake oh my sleepy eyes

Round and round your eyelids went
Round the statues and residence
Around; through the corners of the park
To the statues back
Here they came to depart
Anytime they came to depart
Anytime they formed their pact
Here they reviewed the past in the present
Through orders slow to be acted
To achieve their focused future

the endless sea

When I awake and gaze out
Through the morning sun
The Atlantic, that ocean I see
As I search the shores to see
Not the sea shore but the sea
A vast body of water , all I see

Around me , behind me
They hold their smoke pipes up high
Dreaming and digging the shores away
Forgetting my world exist
Our world of falling rain
Of railing winds and floods
Of the Catherina’s and her sisters.
If we've seen her on solid grounds
How much more,
Where the swamps surrounds.

MADNESS

Very quick we are
To send them packing
Very quick we react
to change their place of abode
but very slow they are to detect them
those who will throw away not cloths
or walk to talk
yet their actions the same

made on our streets
madmen who steer the wheel
and put the sane to sleep
early in their prime
the sleep of dead, a painful sleep
more than those who walk to talk

madness in the home they portray
when in anger their deed
madness from men and women
on their women and their men
bleeding bruises, hurting the heart
separation and even enmity
all from madmen and women who walk not
to talk or throw away their cloths

Our clothing

A designer a Needleman
Among others you’ve turned me
To sew a special cloth
Well fitting it will be,
Without a measure it will be
To bring out the hidden you
Like a just lighted candle
in the fearful dark

a clothing to suit all
the frequent changing cloud
a clothing to wear once
never to be removed
because the dusty winds by day
and the biting air by night
would not penetrate and tarn its white
brightness; the true sign to other designers

fashion could make others nicer, but my
clothing would be for a life long
just as it was from the beginning
when it was first sewed;
in similar sizes and colours,
without any change in texture
without a single uncertainty
the surest way to live long

pick it not from a freezing shop
the changing sky know not
what you wear that would not
be removed; the shield against
the dusty winds by day
and the biting air by night
which would penetrate and tarn
our white brightness like us
a perpetual sign to others

a ruler among men have they been
false kings whose ruler ship like ill wind
has brought no good;
for long life it would be
my clothing like was first sewed
in same colour, size and texture
by the creator the then designer
before our contemporary needle men

the free gift

Freely receive it
the gold that came forth
from the setting sun
twinkling from it position

Freely receive it
its reflection on the golden shores
the gathered cloud like an opening
a kiss provoking lips above the shore
as the sun through it sets

the wayfaring’s guide

Who will lead the way ?
people of the way their march
their echoes through the dark
the fun chase of the bats

Who will light the flame
without oil, to match
those whose apparels they guard
and are bleached in the light

Who will in sudden receive
a spirit so pure and clean
a move in return not in haste
but slowly to his pace

Above the waters

On the waters above
we wish to be
surrounded by the whirlwinds
its rushing sound
a level so terrifying
a false step from above
a fall so swift
then the deep so sudden:
into the depths so deep

Among the lilies

In search for that moment I never had
Behold, a vessel under the sun I found
Polished to sparkle, smooth around
Me, prepared to set sail awaits
Wherever the oars me take
To face the hoisted flag of Poseidon
Marching through its boisterous storm.
Your vessel among the lilies me hide
To become invisible to sight.
There it would rain
For the sun to shine through the rain
And their melodies heard again;
Their beautiful petals to remain
Because their thorny parts
A scare to predators became.
.

This calm around this vessel eats away the distance
The journey through the mind
In orders that can never be refused.
My wet palms I cleaned
Her sleepy eyes in order to greet
And putting me in a sleep
Away flew my cares and burden.

Hold on tight,
Frailty and feebleness
Would die away giving birth to us,
A new born.

Hold on tight,
Flies and bees
Around in search for nectar
From petals, the light exposes.

Hold your grip, still tight,
The grounds after rain
Slippery and muddy remains,
Our water and food would last
As we near the darkness
And for long would remain
So see not the fears so high
Nor the doubt around so tight
To feel ; and bear not their noise
In the dark, the bats.

My smile prolonged,
Your presence on my path
Beamed the light in my darkness
As I solely cherished those two hands
Which cherished each other ;
Your sleepy eyes because of another
Stayed open but close
To the side of each other.
Lasting vitality revived
By those walks together
Oh two hands which held each other.
Together you were seen
Together your thoughts were formed
Even in silence to commune
To share what one has not
Together among the lilies

I gave you my heart

I gave you my heart
I placed in your hands
An ore that was inherited
By an entire community
And you deserted it
To be consumed by the raging winds
And fiery sun

I gave you my heart
In your hands I placed
The length of days and my life
Many years of nurtured warmth
And of selected choices
Of kindled thoughts
All at a risk I gave

I gave you my heart
I placed in your hands
Its keys as we rode triumphantly
Side by side the envying night sky
To shine your star and twinkle brightly
On my still waters but briefly
For a perpetual frown

I gave you my heart
I placed in your hands
My all and I had all what you gave out
Friendship for my love
To lose it all and become broken
Broken from my heart
To my hopes and to my all
Just like all others that came

I gave you my heart
I placed in your hands
A treasure and you rolled it
Through my fortress in a boat
Without even whispering to me
At where I lay in vigil to see
You in the distance, In the moonlit night
Your radiating smile
Like a flash of lightning in a cloudy day

They will come and go
But I will stay
Remain without the pump of life
The pleasures and the spices
All because of the cooing
The cooing of the migrating cuckoo
Whose feet hardly grips hard
The boughs of the tree of love

In tears the red balls will be
In sorrow the heart will stay
With imprisoned appetite
And weakened strength
Not knowing why I gave my heart
Nor how I place it in your hands
But a loss but a shocking silence
Like broken beads around the waist will be

Missed call

Harmless it might seem
A miss call, an irreplaceable call
And shivering move down the spine
Did I cause a hurt?
Is it something I said?
Is it well with her?

You might not intend to hurt
But a hurt may be
When you follow your belief
A hurt to those around you
As little as it might seem
Will still cause her a hurt

The royal guest

When the blue turned gray
and tears dropped unending
from the floating fleece above,
darkness joined the night
in silence to hear
the noisy fall.

Her room became crowded
with the cry of the broom
whose tire waist her hands held
up and down, side to side
through the corners, till the walls
and floors sparkled bright.

No complain to instructions, directions
and all which must be obeyed
by the exhausted broom without delay
and the worn out rag as well.
A queen’s orders to the future queen
to prepare a place for her royal aunt.

The blue bird

Trees, branches… fly !
Not away but towards the sky
Leave the green grasses and
dry shrubs and fly my blue bird.
The rising sun rings its bell
And the branches bow down
To the sound of the majestic bell,
Making every hill plain and
brightening every dim light.

Fly high my blue bird
Into the nest of the pear tree
Which has been made, already into
a safe haven away from the fire at
noon day and the predator at night for
the branches are held hand in hand across
a street, a shield to for our nestlings

fly my blue bird
gird your loins with strength
and fly quick for the pear fruit lie ripe
and desolate only for the bats and crows.
Fly quick my blue bird
For the scorching sun will last for long,
And I wait as your nest lie without warmth.

The faceless assassins

it began right there in the womb
even before their fluids met ,
the war of the faceless assassins
of fathoms that have no boundaries
which multiplies with time
enemies without swords
but cuts and wounds deeply on the
battle field of the mind

there we were to fight to the end,
and if we lose , an end of survival
of good. Here the sun will not rise
till one awakes and feels it is not
reel and if we win, only for a brief
moment before a replacement
of another twice or even more
formidable than it has already been

we fight with our instincts and wits
and all that nature has bestowed on
us seen and unseen even the Divine,
just to survive. How long to survive
Will depend on us and the maker:
Our carelessness, our ignorance,
Our perseverance, our obedience, all.

THE SEA.

It freshens the day
receives all the gay
into its bosom
our sweaty afternoons
a constant refreshing source
which goes on without a stop;

part of the building block
nature's own portion
separated from the top
to its present position
an everlasting treasure unlocks;

a source of free food
only if we can
that art to master
only a little hand
to manage its hook;

a pleasurable sight for all
both near and afar
a light through it all
forms a rainbow from afar
and viewed from their hut;

a legacy to guard and keep
yet what do we see:
the point to empty our cesspits
the coloured odour and poison
is tasted with the nose;

others who stand and watch
worst offenders and guilty
smiling assassins of the voiceless fish
the dying aquatic plants and animals
the groaning sea lingers on;

our sea nature's gift
how long this freshness and food
how long our pleasure and legacy...
if it solely sings
and they chart, its audience.

WEEP NOT MOTHER

From the dim distance the silence was broken
a mother's voice could be heard too
like one having in her arms a baby.
To make her stop crying she sings
to make her happy at her she smiles
and her touch one could still feel from the distance.

They told us she stopped her cries
as soon as she first heard us cry.
She rushed to have us on her side
in her arms even in her pain
because the fear to see us die
was gone even without a trace.

For giving us all we needed
our first food from within
when we lay under her jealous watch
wrapped in silky white linen,
the honour and pride beaming
from her face towards us.

Everything she did for us
some we acknowledged whereas
others caught our blind eye.
We will wipe your tears mother
your land well watered
now grows wealth unexploited.

Oh weep not, wipe your tears
your crops gave double harvest
your barns now fully filled
will no more you wake
the early birds and their songs
for no more your time to work.

Oh smile and laugh aloud wipe your tears
enjoy the bliss what your
hands have created what your
mind has formed what your
eyes have watched and guarded
now the monarch of far and near.

Wherever your soul lies weep no more
for those tears of love you shed
on us like ripples still moving and spreading
across the circumference of our soul
and will last before the rainy day comes
even if the sun should set no more

COUNTESS II

You cast a spell on my sleepy heart
Like a zombie to follow everywhere
Even when hidden or buried
To search and dig out
No matter the time,
Forever it may be

O thou who stole my heart
and left me in happiness
I wish there was another
In its socket to offer
That ye keep them with the other
And not leave them like the others
But bind them closer forever

three men by the street

They stand to stir
While their contemporaries
In the field prune and water
Their growing crops

In three they stirred
While their mates
On the streets shout
Their goods to sell

Three dark men they were
Two shorter and of equal size
One tallest, in the middle
A tooth opens way through his throat

As he stands only to stir
Yet what has been covered
Revealed, very intriguing when uncovered
Through a missing tooth, our stir

the tired hen

Tired and tired my scream for help
My countless chicks the hawk seized
Always and ever his tossing and turning
His victorious glide will they proclaim

Comfort me not oh oval boiled eggs
Heavy and more you weigh me down
On you I will lie after I lay you fresh
Sweating and sweating to call you my chick

Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and ever I’ll refuse to be comforted

Soon to lose you to a generational foe
Before the tree top to learn a generational croak
Soon to lose you to his victorious glide
On the wings of the storm his perpetual flight

Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and ever I’ll refuse to be comforted

Why wait and wait before the grab
Why not early before the hatch
Before I light the furnace to call my chicks
To have them fresh and green after the dew

Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and ever I’ll refuse to be comforted

Tired and tired my run for help
My countless chicks the hawk seized
Never and never his perpetual glory an end
Always and never she’ll refuse to be comforted

Decision

The die is cast
The eye has seen
The ears to keep
The vibrating number
Be it sour with tears
Or sweet with laughter
Will the hands stay close
To the marching feet
Of a displaced mind?

The embrace

Let their frail branches intertwine
Grow fresh and green their leaves
Even their hard dry bark;
And in their embrace
Like currents, its mild shock;
Their comforting hold on the neck
Brief, as they lie in a lock.

women of substance

Where the women are
gladness lives; but flees gladness
where the women lack.

Otorfoi

During the silent hours of the gentle light
When above its shape whole, the single eye
Amidst the tenderness of the calm falling rays
When the fire above overhead remains
Briefly and suddenly:
We hear them reaching out to ready minds
The play back of saturated moments of yesterday
Still living in the present day.

When the thick flux clears from our eyes
We see their thin reflection on the soul’s eye
Briefly and suddenly:
The rowdy procession of the forgotten past
Still struggling to survive in the present day.

Blaring and bereavement
They hear on the streets
Gasping and panting
For air in between waves like a hill
Gathering and packing
For survival in the blast at the battlefield

All in violence their souls to take
Their dreams frozen and abandoned
Briefly and suddenly;

Not a goodbye to loved ones
In a terrible fear their departure from the gates
Briefly and suddenly;

Their cries screaming the loudest
To the dead ear when opened, they come out
Briefly and suddenly.

On the streets a damage
On the slopes a shot
On the shores a drown

They live there in sadness
A real departure they await
Like convicts on death roll
A head of a ram to roll

Its blood to free their hold
Its voice to follow homewards
An abode of souls them awaits
Briefly and suddenly.

Agama

Up and down as the little leaves
Wave at the blowing wet wind.
Up and down its head painted red
Struggling to soak up the juice of nuts that fell
On its jaws to be munched
Into its bosom craving for more;

Agama clothed in a white sack cloth
Proclaimed king by himself
Not telling any not fearing any
Runs to his hut beneath the rock.
To his aid his wife, shaking in terror
At him her laughter: not telling the little children.
Oh the hail of stones that clouded the sky
Not at a prey the numerous throw of stones
Nor to consume but a fun fare sport

Agama out again in majesty
Surrounded by the open air, their homage
The shadow of a claw it saw come
Too late before his attempt to run
Out of the grip of a hungry claw

Agama screamed, into the air they flew to float
His aid his wife, his rescue never came its haste
Agama sounded his scream aloud, the second louder
Yet stronger a sound than his, he heard
Down and down, so soon they fell faster
Dizzily descending to the ground, the trembling claw his side
Agama runs; run! Agama, run!!
A rush to his hut beneath the rock

The footsteps so soon came in haste, stopping at the spot
The hawk, motionless; in a sack bag behind him
Smoke from his smoky pipe, into the hut to hide
The dog by his side, in his hand a golden gun
All with his dizziness, lost and gone for good.

Her nagging

You saw me
Felt me
Heard me:
I love you
Everything showed I did
But you see it not so;

I changed for you
Gave my all
Small and big
Everything received
Showed I did
But for you: nay, not enough;

Everyone has got pride
Lost mine
For you
For love’s sake
Everything showed I did
But for you: nay, not enough;

Anything I did
Nothing without a reason
Else I say sorry
Thinking I don’t listen:
All I give is reason
But you see it not so;

I just ended one
Started I another
Worse than the other
When anything makes news for one
Everything hardly ever will last for two:
First, joy; then, sorrow.

OUR EXPECTATION

Help will always be found
Problems will always be solved
But failed to help me
Whom indeed a faithful friend.

It couldn’t end my woes
What has worked for others
We are all different
Expect nothing like before.

Anybody could help
Not only a friend
Anything could solve it be it little
Solves something what others say.

Our expectation our only worry
Our expectation our only woe
Our expectation can be met sometimes
Our expectation, worry not if not all times.

My lost love

This was not the first time
My heart pumped to the depths
My hurt deeper than the deep:
Pain, ordeal, agony
All alone I bear
Without any to share
When the most, them I needed.

I raised my head high into the closed heavens
Yet could not hide my ever dropping tears
Nor one, a kin to find so near
In my solitude, my loneliness to share
Solitude not needed, loneliness incurable
Like a plague to eat me up from within:
Everything that meant much
Like a horse strong, like a fortress fortified
Guarded by its thick brick walls
All, this flood water, away took.

With crossed fingers I watched and gazed
As the only help I had, my hands
Never forsook me, but by me stood.
Gashing memories rose tall to their peak
Yet found I nothing but ashes and scars
All gone and without a single trace
What this flood water took away
With the wind its rushing sounds an aid.

Fainting memories I can only picture not revive
Painful memories that make me weep and weaker
Bitter memories flashing contours on my clear face
Sounding memories soft and calm like a whisper
Tearing apart and asunder everything on its way.

With that gaze in her blazing eyes
I know no more what once a smiling face.
Her hand moved towards the door
Her legs through the exit
My hand failed to hold
My legs standing glued to the ground
All with her, only with a bank
Never to return home, again into my bosom.

Welcome

Hail!! Hail!! Hail!!
From afar the battle drums are beaten
The king and his warriors
At the square all gathered
Shouts of praise surrounds him
Like beautiful beads around the waist

Welcome!! The beater said
Visitors from the unknown world
Guardians from the realms above
Keepers of nature and our brothers
Here we jubilate and make merry
Our victory songs we sing to dance
Those gone afar and beyond we remember
To invoke and embrace what they left behind:
Our togetherness
Our freedom
Our prosperity

Hail!! Hail!! Hail!!
Another year of togetherness
Year of freedom
Of prosperity.

Let us drink and dine
Let us drum and dance
Let all say aloud “walk the talk”
Our response “Words well read, said, heard”

THE FRUITFUL CLASH

More than a tower, a fortress
The clash, the warmth of our breath;
Where will be guarded, kept
Our voices; where our thoughts
Would be traced and found
To manifest and shape our vision
Like upwelling magma into the air
To solidify and become unmoved

laasu ogbe

Just in front of the wall
And metal gate surrounding the oak,
It took a circular sweep of fallen leaves
Slowly like baby waves in yonder shore
Crying aloud without any to hear
Its departure; the eyes bewildering
From the lonely brown bare earth.

broken bottles on the field

A joyful play with the foot
Head heading a ball to hoot
A foul of dark clouds form
Over clear calm bright sky.
Broken bottles on the streets
Will let it out, bloody scene will be;
Shouts that could not be heard
If anger covers the eyes not to see
Nor ears to hear, already
A sorrowful song being sang

break not her heart

They will fear and hate you
If you break their heart;
And if they know you’ll do it
Never will they have allowed it.
What happiness, breaking to replace
Her jealous and proud heart
Of mistrust and indecision
Covered with fear and fright
Will I break to replace
Joyfully to live with you.

I AM IN LOVE

I am in love
What about you?
Did you fall or grow in love?
And if your answer be first
What happens when again you stand?
And if your answer be last
How tall do you want to become?
And at what speed the race?
These please remember when
You are in love

their feet will play

Football our feet will play
While on the sea sand we lay
To share our life’s earnings together
And drink to a common good in number
Many shall pass and peep
Many shall stand and stir
Many more shall sigh and smile
From afar a sight beautiful to behold…
Captured by the magnet of the mind.

the heated sun , the heated shore

The heated sun breathes vapour
About, it moves and tired not
Like a horse to gallop and tired not;
The changing rays their changing tides
Along they run on the snow ice.
Like a sliced orange, its gentle squeeze
Till all their heavy body lie
On the boughs of the heated shore.

not to sleep but till

Not out of malice
Only not being aware
There in, what one stood for
In the garden of he who is.

Not to show disrespect
Only to look on and on it, watch.
Not to be destroyed by ignorance
Beside the great Nim tree.

Beside their fellow thinkers they sat
Covered by the cloth of awe.
His garden all others there in lie
Before passing on, not to sleep but till.

spreading his wings

For your care and thoughtfulness
I am very pleased in thankfulness.;

Not even my queen to be
Has thought as such of me;

To stay forever like this, man will not
But spread his wings to grow tall;

Higher and broader
The sun’s light to cover;

Until it is seen no more but him
In a time when man will look up to him;

Across the circumference of the earth
For their light on the dark but firm earth.

waiting not in weariness

Very tight my whole body
Not even a leg to budge
When my vision far better
And the way clearer than before

Very immobile am i
Even as my running thoughts
Have never been stopped
Even from being greater now than I

The very push I’ll need but whom
To be free not only to move…
At long last I’ll wait not wearyingly
For the unknown mask man

comforting showers

I count the number the times
Blessed from above their showers
Which brought out mine from my eyes
Uncontrolled to wet the corners of my eyes.

The number of times I have often cleaned
Allowed to dry I have wished
Because it was soon made wet.

Warm showers that cover the body
Like a coat in winter will fall on me
Oh fall on me!

Remind me of it all
My beginning my smile
My ending my frown
Oh fall on me!

Don’t you feel the touching breeze
Coming down through the door way
In a stretched hand to greet?

Do you see it climbing neatly
Like a snake on my stake
To poison the system with a painless bite?

Seducing my worry with an ease
Leaving me in a comforting daze
Descending low the new world to view
Oh bless me now; gentle showers to the brim

… in a haste, the vision dims.

My feathers of wax

The sun is up its eyes shinning
Over we’ll fly across the sky
Stronger we’ll flap to fly high
Higher above the sun
Fearing not the melt above
My shinny feathers of wax

Hear the sound hitting me hard
Shaping me through my cry so loud
Heat and fire will redden my being
My length into molten metal will be
A grudge with the hammer to be worn
A necklace around the neck to adorn

the speaking face

Soaked with a feeling
I couldn’t describe
My inner man yelled loudly
Yet she couldn’t hear
But my face which spoke not
Yelled the loudest her hearing

A profess of peace
Seated on rocky bombs
An explosion the least outlook
A while, a cat from the bag
Chasing out our mixed feelings
Raining serenity on our dry grasses

what i have to show

I wanna know
What have I than words
That you left
Tell me
What have I than mere words
Not plain but vain
Without any substance or depth
Which I can search and dig out
In ease in no time.

Words that have tied me down
So tight like the spider’s web
To freely fall the slightest shake.
With this I have to contend
The long relentless effort?
You weighed it
Lighter than a feather
Thinner than the air around

In dismay again I lay
A task to undertake
A task to proof your worth
Your worth on that bar again I lay
To clear the doubting waves
Off the silent shore.

It will make you shudder
Shred up and black out
To feel giddy when you hear.

Yet will allow you alone
The final judge to make amends
As I lay patiently on the shore
To either say good bye to my peace
Or stay awake with it
Your response the final bit.

Rain on me

Will you rain on me
The rain full of love
On my withering grasses
When over, the rainy days
Gone and never to return?

Will you rain on me
Dark clouds to gather again
The latter rain to return
Now and forever I pray?

Above the waters

On the waters above
We wish to be
Surrounded by the whirlwinds
Its rushing sound
A level so terrifying
A false step from above
A fall so swift
Then the deep so sudden:
Into the depths so deep

concealed emotions

Many a time I have looked through
Those convincing bright eyes
And have left it unsaid
Fury and fume dissipated
Like solid ice into flowing water
Calm and cooling my tempest high
An irresistible attraction
Two bodies sitting in silence
Pride concealing their deepest emotion

ride my bicycle

I’ll ride my bicycle
They will laugh in their cars
Stuffed by its cool air
And will die young
As I continue to live long

That Saturday night

The eager hands with vigour
Search to grab and fill full
Its treasure sac, and to glow
Around the head like a saint

Smoke unpleasant rises high
Quick to fill our sacs full
Smoke the unpleasant nose to smell
Beautiful smoke from the grill
Will I invite and yearn in earnest
To lie with on my white linen

Through their abode I’ll pass
The passing light again I’ll grab
Through the thick dark smoke
Which engulfed me like a winter coat
To suffocate and pour out
These honey juices brewed
By my watery eyes from my tear gland
Because the light is gone
Out from the star I’ve found

The old calabash

Still with its cracks
The old calabash
I’ll drink, I’ll pour
Out to come
The wine, the water
So sweet and Much more
So smooth from her lips carved.

To taste a solemn drink
I’ll not pour, I’ll drink
To provoke that hand
That abounds in fragrance
To hold a delicate dear
It’ll pour not only on the floor
We’ll drink, into our bowels.

Never from one imported
Bearing the anarchy of the ages!
We’ll drink, we’ll pour;
Not even its stinking rubber!
I’ll touch, I’ll pour.
Nor from its water!
I’ll drink, I’ll pour.
From what has now desecrated our land
We’ll never drink, I’ll never pour!

dressed in painted clay

There in the distance they gather
Can you hear the big big drums
Tum-pun tum-pun they sound
May it not be sadness but joy
Until near I will be
My doubts will surely flee

Men in similar clothes their women too
As they mark their feet from the knee in white clay
Along the street proudly stood like guest at Otufu
Bringing home the new convert
Dressed and painted in white and clay
Their feet bare, on the red earth

night walk

Night walk around town
Just after the single fire is put out
By the invisible hand on the switch;
Several fires will be lighted
Not brighter than the former
Their reflecting light in a line.
Their play they end holding
Their white ball in hand;
Along the streets, walking:
Through the path to rest.

The rider

She rode sideways like a he
On a horse in blue jeans
Descending gently
With bangles in her ears and wrist.
Exposed to her thigh from her knee
Her blue jeans to see.
Down around her ankle, golden chains stood
Around about her toes, a ring
Round her finger too;
To show singly like a wig
Her shinning woven hair
Hanging in a tie
Behind her neck.

his truth

In a rush all to say
Not to fear the cell or sword
Because the heart spoke
With no noise in the sound
After several days of silence

The singing stream

The streams sing no more
For the birds to join the dance in the air
Their throats the dumping sewage dries
Emptying their stomachs salting their lakes
Collecting her necklaces of shells
Along the curves of its banks

In order they enter in a queue
Baby duckling following mother duck
Into the stream to swim
Drying their wet coloured feathers
On the sun on one foot they stand
In remembrance of he who will come

I heard not in tall years
The morning rhymes on the tree top
The running hen lay down
The scattered chicks digging maggots
After series of flight
The tired hawk could not perch
The coconut tree is cut

The birds have migrated
Away they flew with their melodies
The melodies that crown king
The trees over the shrubs
Along the banks not men
But silence that hover around
Where it once stood, the tree
The missing shade which is gone.

Her silence

Silence, her silence led straight
Into the bar of justice, tied by guilt
Stronger than fetters in an air
Tight cave painted in mercy.
I only heard but had nothing
Passing through the pipe for response.

Nothing because I have been weighed
Even to be lighter than a feather
And have found no plea in that
But a quick haste of what
Needed to be done for this soul
Who unworthy had made itself
Only worthy to be destroyed.

What has never been written
What has never been imagined
Could be done by him to her
She whom he claimed he loved
Allowed her alone to fathoms within
To the catcalls of bats without
Who like vampires her blood will suck,

Clouds from the south
My dry and dirty hill blow
And even not lack
Her gentle dew before dusk
Nor the showers before dawn.
Oh easterlies blow along her hot coast!
And my shame away will drive
Without a halt till I can face her again
… have solely cherished and fancied
And have woefully betrayed and defied

Calmly as she let out in words
What should have torn me
To pieces like an angry claw,
What should have blinded on sight;
Without rage without malice, out came
Its floating sound me to calm:
It’s done, she said
As the fumes that have up welled within
Because of a misguided lips
Around an enemy in a friends cloth.

His feet he has deepened in her pool
His clothes dripping off its soaked water
While will no longer she- her mind
To swim again, to change
Let alone with him.

the soul

Like a flash through the flow
Turned active the dull flux
Purifying our solid impurities
That have lived through the ages
Through cycles and incarnations;
Before we got here
Years before our first cry
Our crawl our walk;
Before lisp turned words audible
Enough the inactive mind it quickened
The hyperactive mind it calmed.
Here all came
Its juicy sap to taste:
Full of greatness, of enlightenment;
And will still come after we are gone

the falling droplets

He held the rose
Its pinching thorns, the hurt so deep;
Its red droplets falling and desecrating
The floor, its hallow.
On this floor to throw
If not as a bouquet or a tall plant to grow

Falling red droplets
Will colour my white lilies.
Reddish to become in bloom on hallowed floor;
Red lilies without thorns
Will embrace and return my love
My love, no more hurt will feel.

the single eye man

The old man with the single eye
Stands awake on top a tree high
The weary body aches
The itching feet in haste
Beginning by a step
To get there:
Becoming like our father I AM
His masterpiece I am.

Irreparable

The darkness cannot hide
This shame poured into my eyes
Like an eye drop to fill full;
An unguided action of mouth
Glaringly snapped by the eye.
Like an arrow on a path
As delicate as the heart.
The mind has no explanation
An irremovable stain on apparel
Plain like crystal now tainted to show.
There is no detergent o clean
Freely the humiliating dirt and
From my hands the visible smell

Enchanting voice

Her enchanting voice
Could be heard through the woods
Bringing near the river
All the animals to drink;
And suddenly after so long
Me too it brought so near

Fading away until forever gone,
The hurt: the drink, the deepest
Leaving me, not telling me.
Like a rose flower
Its pinching thorns I forgot not
Oozing blood several pounds I lost.

Defacing my velvet skin
More than a razor my deep cut
Beside it all, in my mind
Its fading echoes
Throbbing in my passing time.

The expected one

Who will strike the strings
The strings of the harp?
Who will play its magical notes
To march away this deadening
The hanging cares and fears
Which resettles after dusting
Onward then I go
To hear this mighty sound
Which my mind once has guarded

Hot forever?

My love like a furnace
The more your logs of attention
The hotter it will grow
To become reddish outward

Loss

The loveliness is gone out
From the baritone voice
And in its place a flux
A flux of feign smile
Engulfed in a lisping speech

Decision

The die is cast
The eye has seen
The ears to keep
The vibrating number
Be it sour with tears
Be it sweet with laughter
Will the hands stay close
To the marching feet?
Calmly goes the scores
Trembling hands cannot be
By the marching feet
Of a displaced mind

Why I’ll cry

I cry
When they say hey love me

I cry
When me, the whole world they promise
When them, the whole world they show
What they have not done
What they have never felt

I cry for the children
They claim they have with me
Fatherless they have become of this
Though the whole world
Mine, thought was mine

I cry
Because I fear the hurt

I cry
When my fear like a waterfall flow

I cry
Because they will not dry up
Till those painful tears no more
I’ll cry

working on the sun

Very strong like a mule
Their backs and heads rode
On the hot tarmac and sun
Their black skin will sweat

Toddlers and infants in tattle
On the green plateau a harvest
Corn full their basket of cane
Reveals the sun their sweaty faces
The blowing toil smiling on their faces

As the heavy full belly
Supports a rocky flux of concrete
An empty stomach space
Struggles to guard me safe home

BARKING AND BARKING

Barking and barking
The night will hear
Fill full to overflow
Flapping and flapping
My eyes to respond
As the clock it gazes
Be it a thief
When all is set at rest
Or a lonely traveler on a lonely alley
Or the elders and ancients
Their homeward visit.

Barking and barking
My night will bark back
And the fear that wrap me
Like a chilled blanket
And freeze me at their presence
Screaming aloud, none to hear.

Barking and barking
Will free my night
Causing to flee my fear
Leaving in glee my night

Your Doom

How sweet the sight

Like honey taste on the mind

That will pull you to follow
An order, your body in a whole.

An act without control

That unthoughtful act, your doom

Your doom you’ll see

...Then it happens.

Home away from home

A home away
From the heat and cold
Soon he will sojourn.
A home far away
Where neither eyes nor ears reach
But the minds and hearts.
His remains begged they to have
His new family to lay in state.
Gathered they far far away
Not where his chord was buried
Nor his first cry was heard
But with the living
His last moment on earth
Before the journey home
Away from home

( )

In the rush hours of the morning
My strife started
In search a sweet fluid
Solidified in a dear cane
Carried on the head that morning.
In wretched cloths that Sunday
To be chewed in harmony
By those on the way

The secret

Secretly they loved each other
Then he thought she didn’t
Now she knows she hid it
May be her pride
Or her scare of another ride
Before long the winds gave her ride
And they parted like strangers
Not a word or a hand shake
Nor a hug let alone a kiss
But suppressed emotions from one
As if never cared, the other
If she will know it was the truth
And he continue in his truth
Their secret
Clear like the falling rain
Will be.

( )

When there is a lot we can change
Little do we succeed in doing
When there are some we cannot change
An entire life, we fail even when devoted

Many …

In this strife have I found many
Many place guided by my feet
Many people have I met
Many things have I learned
Many have I loved
Many have I hurt
Many have I forgotten
Many still have I remembered
Many tears have I shed
Many times my laughter seizes
Many more yet to come my way
Many times till my last breath.

( )

Walk by my side
Chest up in the dark
Through my mind
You’ll stagger
Even with light

( )

I love it when alone
To face you alone
Your stern look and glances
Your dazing silence in wait
To cheer or hoot in loudness

Car chase

Their passing steps towards the car
And the unthinkable will happen
A crowd in haste
A seat in a chase
Like an army of bees
Through a hole in a comb
Their passing steps, the most noise
Tum-pum pum-tum
Ceasing when vacancy restored

Not on a play field
Those gallant feet
Nor boots to hide their heel
But to run on the streets
All: family, single, children
And the elderly tum tsi-tsi pum
Their feet towards the car, running

Seagulls

Up high they flew
Not to meet the opposing mosque
But a sudden turn, wings flapping
Wet to dry, spotless white to show
As crystal the sun to bleach

In front their image on top
Their perching abode at the roof top
Their playing ground to group
Their maker their constant communion
In the highest looking down

Three men by the street

They stand to stir
While their contemporaries
In the field prune and water
Their growing crops

In three they stirred
While their mates
On the streets shout
Their goods to sell

Three dark men they were
Two shorter and of equal size
One tallest, in the middle
A tooth opens way through his throat

As he stands only to stir
Yet what has been covered
Revealed, very intriguing when uncovered
Through a missing tooth, our stir

whom am i thinking of?

When am thinking of her
Sleep comes not near
But flies away
She gets jealous
And me no more near
When I need her around

THE CALM AFTER THE CRY

It has been flying all day
In the high horizon, a tall tree
With branches broader
The crow perched but a pest
Caused it to toss and turn
The vulture allowed a while
For a calm after the cry.

I watched while away
Like a cat and an aggressive mouse
Which over a meat to chew
Had a bout so terrible that
None to the rescue but the meat
As it lay aside
In wait a prize
For the victor after his victory.

The peace after the noisy struggle
The pieces after the consumption
A handshake, a smile
A tap on the shoulder
Just enough for a restoration
Of enmity for serenity.
A long lasting legacy
Of a calm after the cry.

into the distance

A noisy night
Of frequent barking
Rise tall on sight
Taller than the snoring.
Soon to disappear disguisedly
Into the dark distance eternally
Through the thin air around
Leaving behind to vibrate, a snoring
Hovering the edges of the dark room around
Ticking slowly the watch of the night
Into the distance, the silent night.

MI MAMA

My lips will twist
To say it;
I will force the air out my lungs
In a whistle which will not be heard,
To say it.
Not mama?
I have said in smiles
Mi mama,
With passion, in best hope
Not mama anymore
But juana?
Juana ,
My lips will twist
To call you aloud

I love it when alone
To face you alone
Your stern look and glances
Your dazing silence in wait
To cheer or hoot in loudness

In the pub

Take a walk with me
Pleaded I
through the dark
within the room at night
flooded with hoisted flags
their various choices of clubs
As we walk through the pool calmly gathered
and yet our clothes not wet
our minds will work
will do all the walk.
Amidst the silent minds
the lone voice will rhyme
showing the way
clearing the doubting rage
the turbulent fall to sublime.

The traveler

On the sun deck I cannot see
At those who wave me I weep
Along the shores waiting and wishing
My honey comb to fall, sweet in a pack.
Their words the waves swallow
Their sight the tides hide
Till their efforts and strength subside.
Yet will I soar with the oars
My honey comb in hand across the seas
The rays to trace till my sun sleeps

( )

He gave me a stick
And I threw it away to crawl
A hand during the shake
And I watch to fall
Like a mighty albatross the fall

THE GRAVE MARCH

Red the colour of love
Red the colour that changes
On the streets
When all is done with
And together we come
To lay to rest the dear one

Red fills our eyes
To over flow its banks
In clothing, in carrying
The lost, the dear on the shoulders
On the head their last respect

Red you’ll wear
to give me a hand
not white but red
when beautiful and so young
not black but red to lay to rest

a mob of red will follow
a coffin covered with red
cars filled and tied with red
their chants will wipe the red
in the eyes full of red

Juliette

Wednesday, March 16, 2011 12:15 AM
A heart called Juliette I search
A heart that possesses not.
I search the heart that takes care
Of others before her own
And understood by her own.
I will search always for this heart
That I would not own
But have whenever the need be,
Even when it has been own

COUNTESS II

You cast a spell on my sleepy heart
Like a zombie to follow everywhere
Even when hidden or buried
To search and dig out
No matter the time,
Forever it may be

O thou who stole my heart
and left me in happiness
I wish there was another
In its socket to offer
That ye keep them with the other
And not leave them like the others
But bind them closer forever

Why should I not let her go?

Can we like branches intertwine to express our love?
O how they filled the silence and rubbed their dried leaves
When I raised up my head and first saw you
I heard no more my footstep but my heart beat
I now know that I have indeed searched in vain
when a heart so tender and caring sought after each other
Why should I not let her go?

Why I'LL CRY

I cry
When they say they love me

I cry
When me, the whole world they promised
When them, the whole world they show
What they have not done
What they have never felt.

I cry for the children
They claim they have with me
Fatherless they have become of this
Though the whole world
Mine, thought was mine.

I cry
Because I fear the hurt

I cry
When my fear like a waterfall flow

I cry
Because they will not dry up
Till those painful tears no more
I’ll cry.

the fragrant brook

We will flow
Like the brook
Like lemon fragrance
Your nose will smell
With sediments clearer
...Your eyes will see.
From afar they will come
From above they will drop
To satisfy their thirst
To bath their sweat.
Yet will we flow cleaner
Like the brook, ever
Like the lemon fragrance.

Rojo

no llevarĂ¡s blanco, sino rojo
