Wedding day dedication

We all dream of days like this
Of happiness and excitement
When all will gather under one roof
Like today other than other times

We can recall it all from the beginning
till today and not tomorrow
what the church bells have rang for
what the podium has intoned
what the rings have joined
what those vows have bound

we were here
for the groom the bride
their family and friends

we are here
to share their lot
bright and dull

will we be here
when the night comes
and doors become shut?

Will we be here
In winter like in rain?

Will we really be here?

They have marked the shores

They have marked the shores
And all around the sun has shown
The winds shook off their wings
And soon all was gone:
What they held in your honour.
Yet in the deep dark corners
Of my enclosed heart
A single ray of your kindness
So long as I live
Will illuminate and stay

To know my mind

To know my mind
Is to know the future
Where I’ll be with you or not
That corner bright or dull
Where I had lain
And have seen no picture
No image no colour
Of you in my dreams
Of myself to be us

Lightening splashes

Lightening splashes
Flickering on those warm lonely cheeks
Like smiles
Contagious on the receptive eyes
Blinking before a reply
In a halt or an equal
Smile as they walk away

For those who descended

For those who descended
Thy falling drop to catch and wipe
Let their heavy hands
From its lonely sides raise
Up and higher at dawn

They called a tune for a dance

They called a tune for a dance
The drums were assembled
Their skins to beat
And refused they, its tune to dance.
Rhythm like sour lime on the lips
They threw up angrily
The unripe, what they have picked.

The drumming went into frenzy
Sparkling tears instead of cheers
Hypocritical waters through their vent
Flooding the dry corners of the eyes
Of their stony souls
Many times has death yielded not
To their venomous lips until now

Slowly into the gutters and pits

They stand and clap and laugh
Shout in words, moving forward
We slow down in deed
Slowly into the gutters and pits

We have gone a long way
Yet nowhere when we look back
Our back is dark if not full of shadows
Our steps we can’t see so we slip
We fall while we move

A long way we have gone
And when our eyes we raise
So bleak, cloudy sky, stormy sea
We held the brush full of energy
And can’t read what we write
And can’t make meaning what we hear
Or express in freedom what we feel

Slowly, slowly and slowly
We move to a standstill
And when we can move no longer
Where will they be: our children?
Only a cycle to form
Irreversible, unending

Around they still stand and clap and laugh
Watching as we continue to move
Slowing down in deeds
Slowly into the gutters and pits
