Years gone by

It is years gone by
in the moonlit night,
sheep and foxes lie thinking;
From a glance, the smell of peace
but how can the prey feel safe amidst its pursuer?

It s years gone by
in the moonlit night ,
all seated and warmed by the evening’s fire;
listening to stories of yester years
but can we tell of the fall in the hand of the enemy?

It is just like years gone by
in the moonlit night,
the blind beggar held on confidently to his boy,
into a ditch they all fell.
O can he know his boy dozes off at each step?

It is just like years gone by
in the moonlit night,
two lovers, their straw thatch burning,
were exposed as their dim light turned bright.
O how can their fantasy blind fold their eye of care?
