The golden beam bids you come
The bells have rang, her morning has come
the ears hear the cheers
the waters of Thames blessing her soul, even the dew of
heaven
Albion Kings and Queens born and gone
on your shoulders and laps another like you will lie
Arms that held her high never get tired
while lisping speech remains
and crawling limbs stand not on their own
We hail you, even the womb and that strong arm
for making you fourth in succession, in the realm
From the white hall come
even from the Court of Saint James
Come England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland
Come hither come hither from far and beyond
We’ve seen her majesty, Charlotte Elizabeth Diane
Princess of the realm where the sun never sets

To My Fairy Queen
Only to suit the colour in your eyes
More gorgeous than the rainbow.
My fair fairy queen
Fairy of the choicest ornaments
Which eyes have never seen
Ever adorned by the fairest princesses ever lived.
The sun will not leave in the morning
Without your dressing wand
Shaking its short tail in your hand
Oh fairest among fairies.
Queen of all fair fairies
Before you the lilies bow in their bloom in the valley
The sunflowers are left dazed
Marveling at your handiwork in the high heavens.
Will you come with the sun in the rain
Or when the moon turns red at night?
Tomorrow I shall appear at the banquet
Don’t fail me at my side
Oh fair fairy.

SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE SUN
We are sons and daughters of the sun
Are you the sand on which it falls?
Hot and heavy to make you
This place is our home
You call it Africa, Ghana
We dance in the music of the
rain
In tenderness our soul
nourishes
On the elephants we ride in
glory
With the lions and tigers
We call it beauty
When they grow green
Adorned by their flowers
We call it peace
When from
their rocky heights they fall
And our mother shines through
them
O Africa, Africa, where art
thou
Virgins and wild of the
undying mother
Your sons will flourish like
the stars in the dark night
And your daughters like the
sands at the beach at day
Forever bowing to your
glorious call
Forever proud to be from you
BEFORE PASSING THE NIGHT
I read your lips
So he can hear aloud
I see you who stand at the
stop
Not knowing where to go
With your stick and only
flipflop
He has already seen you
Whereas I have just noticed
you
You will walk and walk
Only for a single sale
The hand that went into the
bag
Will not come back again
The pocket is full
But hands will not go into
them
O flat soles of shoes
Worn out and sloped to a side
It has rained this evening
Cars hardly pass and yet at
the stop
I see you who stand without a
pullover
There will you pass the night?
AFTER THE PRAISES
When all is done
And your praises sang
The master of good works
Will put you to rest
Anew a times
He alone is wise
To face his wrath
Brimstone from his hearth

sting me to bleed
It was like a whistle from the trees
My name
I know the wind had blown it
My way
From afar it has come
O vipers without venom
Sting my bloodless heart so
it bleeds
The blood running through my
veins,
It’s been still,
Its beat I can no longer hear
Because you are no more here
